A secret: I used burn/dodge on the loin cloth part cos it was the last thing I had to do and I was sick of painting everything the hard way.

Sweeeeeeeet I was wondering when you were gonna post this, I thought about drawing this dude the other day and I was like, hmm I'll wait a couple more days. Then voila, there it was in my inbox! Hopefully I'll have him drawn up for you soon. Wheee this is gonna be fun.
:iconakurask:
:D woot! i'm really looking forward to it!
i actually forgot that you were going to draw him for me, otherwise i might've finished this a lot faster. non-organic elements are a real pain to paint, so i took my sweet ol' time. 3:

I just tried my hand at real life painting yesterday and threw a hissy fit. Digital eludes me even more. I honestly think I'll be a much better sculptor than anything, but I don't have access to anything other than my collected paper and pens over the years. No funds for that kinda stuff right now. And photoshop just pisses me the fuck off trying to figure out how to not look like a 13-year-old drew something on it haha.

You should try messing around with some Sculpey clay. It's my favorite way of modeling things and it's not too expensive, either.
I've struggled with digital painting for the past few years and I think I'm finally getting the hang of it. However, painting with an actual brush and canvas remains a difficult task, for having an 'undo' button for so long has spoiled me. =P

That burn tool really did good on the deepest shades of his clothing! Looks more in-depth with the browns and golds and makes it look realistic and smooth textured. :)
